GYSBL is not part of "Little League International", but we follow their age guidelines for Baseball and Softball.

2025 Baseball Age Chart
2025 Softball Age Chart
T-ball will include our players who are just learning the love of the games. Players are 4 - 6 years old and will learn the basic fundamentals of the game. Our young athletes will practice two times per week for an hour each day until games start in May. Players will play a minimum of 6 one-hour games throughout the season.
*If your player is 6 years old, and had at least one year of t-ball through our program, the Greenville rec center junior baseball program, or another little league t-ball program, your player may move up to Coach Pitch.
Boys and girls ages 6 -8. Baseball division for boys and softball division for girls. Use of regulation baseballs & softballs. Pitches are thrown by a coach. Coach pitch/player pitch baseball/softball teams are made up of 10-12 players. Teams will play up to 2 games per week, and approximately 10 - 12 games per season. Practice time is at coach’s discretion and set at the beginning of the season– usually limited to 2 times per week preseason. Introduction of pitching toward the later end of the season at coach’s discretion if applicable. Five inning games, 90 minute time limit, whichever comes first. Five run limit per inning or 3 outs. No walks. No stealing on pitched balls.
Players must have at least (1) year of t-ball experience prior to moving up, and age 6 based on age eligibility chart. Coach Pitch is not co-ed.
Players aged 9-10 based on the age charts posted. Baseball division for boys and softball division for girls. All players in this division must attend our player evaluation and a draft will be held to balance out teams. Player pitch. Teams are typically 10-12 players and play a minimum of 10 games, generally two games per week. Players will travel to other cities and play games at our home fields in Greenville. Six inning games with a 2 hour time limit. All players will bat. Stealing is allowed after pitched ball crosses the plate.

The majors division consists of teams of 10-12 players and plays a minimum 10 game schedule. Teams will travel to other cities and play games in Greenville at our home fields. Games are 6 innings (2 hours). All players will bat. Stealing is allowed after pitched ball crosses the plate.
Softball
7th & 8th grades softball players will travel to surrounding areas schools & play double headers most scheduled days. Softball players in 7th & 8th grade must attend a tryout early in the calendar year. Teams will consist of 10-12 players roughly and potentially play 15-20 games. No transportation is provided by the league. The 78er Softball season begins earlier than the traditional GYSBL season. This program is run through the GYSBL & NOT the middle school. Players are expected to attend all practices and games.
Baseball
The Juniors division consists of teams of 10-12 players and travel is required to surrounding leagues. The number of games depends on the number of teams we play but have played an average of 12 games most seasons. Player evaluations are required to balance teams equally. This program is run through the GYSBL & NOT the middle school.
NEW for 2025 - we are offering 7th & 8th grade baseball teams to play in a more competitive league, including teams from the RCA conference. Travel is required and transportation is not provided by the GYSBL. These teams require a tryout. Teams will be made up of 10-12 players with practices beginning in March. Games will take place up to twice a week in April and ending around the first week of May. This program is run through the GYSBL & NOT the middle school. Players are expected to attend all practices and games.
